Education Gateway

The first-ever Prototype Open Knowledge Network (Proto-OKN) is an NSF-funded initiative to facilitate the development and deployment of knowledge networks which enable data-driven, artificial intelligence-based solutions and actionable insights that will drive U.S. competitiveness. Learn more about the Proto-OKN with this video series.

In this episode, Pascal Hitzler gives a brief overview of the 25+ years of history of the Semantic Web field. The field gained major traction in the early 2000s, with emphasis on research and applications of ontologies. Emphasis then shifted the Linked Data, published on the Web, in the late 00’s, before the rise of a more comprehensive and integrated paradigm referred to as knowledge graphs, in the early 2010s. We close the overview with a brief discussion of the promises of Large Language Models in the context of Knowledge Graph and Ontology Engineering.

Proto-OKN Workshop

Tuesday, May 7th, 2024
Knowledge Graph Conference 2024
Cornell Tech NYC

The goal for this 90 minute workshop was to enlighten the broader KGC community about the various avenues available for contributing to the Proto-OKN initiative and to explore the multitude of ways Proto-OKN can be leveraged for specific application scenarios. The initiative is interested in fostering a deep connection with companies specializing in knowledge graph platforms, initiating discussions on the integration of knowledge graphs developed through various techniques, and addressing the challenge of answering complex queries by navigating across multiple graphs.
